Using ArtRage on a Surface Pro to create some digital art! Progress over six years of digital art

A paint over of one of the first digital paintings I ever did with ArtRage, as can be seen there are a lot of subtle improvements.

I wanted to start on a black background and very gradually build up the colours to have Arya just appearing from the shadows with half the face in the darkness. I wanted to focus on mainly using the airbrush as so far I have been struggling a little with the oil and achieving a nice blend of colours. In hindsight I think I would have liked to have made the face a little more pronounced and lighter.

Very much a pastel based piece of art and this out of all my ArtRage paintings so far has come out in a very similar manner to that of my old pastel portraits, this makes the transition to digital a little easier. I wasn’t quite happy with the background but for the moment works well enough until I can figure out in my later paintings how to approach the background of a portrait.
